Arturo Obegero

‘Homme Fatal’  AW 23 at Paris Fashion week

Years ago I saw this beautiful exposition in Brussels about the back side- fashion from behind.

As soon as I had a glimpse of fashion designer Arturo Obegero Homme Fatal, I knew right away I wanted to see his Autumn Winter collection 2023.  I got intrigued about how he could bring that sexiness and confidence which la femme fatal exudes into his homme fatal.

For the designer being a homme fatal is accepting the best version of oneself without contemplating obstacles and adopting a go-getter attitude.

For this collection Obegero dove into the spirit of iconic characters such as Lulu portrayed by Luise Brooks in G.W. Pabst’s Pandora’s box (1929) and Thin Man portrayed by Crispin Glover in McG’s Charlie’s Angels (2000) and studying the sartorial identities of famed seducers such as actors Rudoph Valentino and Helmut Berger while referencing the work of photographer Helmut Newton, to create sophisticated clothes for self-aware charmers. I dare to dream…

The AO wardrobe has so many interesting styles such as the Hitchockian 5 looks in 1 Vertigo trench coat and the reversible Rudoplh cocoon bomber jacket.  Tailored ensembles showcase patchworks of black, grey, and red pinstripes as a contemporary nod to the classic menswear pattern. The Gilda trousers, inspired by Rita Hayworth’s character in Charles Vidor’s film of the same name, flaunt a dramatic drape adorned with hand-embroidered crystal fringes.

The materials used in this collection ate the latex tank top, with hand-embroidered crystal fringes, a laced-up back providing a romantic and poetic feel. The aux-fur wrap dress and the bolero jacket add a touch of Hollywoodian glamour.
